While it is true that some accidents are unavoidable, research has found driver error to be the single biggest cause of motor vehicle accidents in South Africa, amounting to 90,6% of all collisions!
Advanced driver training has a dramatic effect on these statistics.
It was found (for example) that where an average of 25% of vehicles in fleets are involved in collisions, this ratio can drop to as low as 3% when advanced driving skills and techniques were consistently applied.
The training instills a consciousness of road safety and safe driving practices and which helps the driver to eliminate driving errors and to mitigate his or her exposure to the risk inherent on public roads. It also brings many years practical driving experience (including some attainable only by accident!) within just a few hours of advanced driving tuition.
It is said that “The best safety device you can install in a vehicle is a trained driver”.
The Killarney Advanced Driving Training Centre was established in 1988. It is the only training facility of its kind existing in the Western Cape Province and is also the premier venue for traffic safety education and training in the Region. Course attendance at the training centre has become standard practice in all sectors of society and commerce and industry in the Region, as well as from further afield (National and International).
